Default Junkyards want $10,000 for LS3s? Sane source for pullouts?

I live in Philadelphia and I am in the market for a LS3 to complete a swap into my time trial car since running a 4cyl turbo motor competetivly has become too expensive season to season with rebuilds and turbo upkeep.

I decided a LS3 or similar would fit the bill and purchased the swap kit to get this into my s2000. So I took a trip to junkyard row and they showed me a pullout at three yards only to be told between 9500 and 13500 without a trans. What am I missing when I can get a used harness/Ecu and a ls3 425 crate for under 6000 new?

Is there a better way to find these pullouts?

Car-part.com and eBay are the same price range as well. Where do you recommend going? I understands the vette tax but this is ridiculous. They list L9H and L92 pullout a for 3k but truck intakes are trash for my application but that plus a dod/vvt removal seem to be the only sensible way to pickup a engine without having any friends into these locally to get me hooked up with someone

Used block from here is probably the best way to go.

Can you buy at local insurance company auction? Here in Iowa we can buy. Just have to pay sign up fee and buyer fee when get something. Insurance auctions is where most larger salvage yards buy cars anyway. Find a rollover where body is all junk. You pay less for it as no body parts to sell off.

No offence, but do you live under a rock?

2 seconds on Goggle and you can find 10 pullouts cheaper, and ready to ship.

Also why does it have to be an LS3?

Rollovers make me nervous, oil pressure is not good with the car on its roof.

Post pics of the S2000 bro. I love time attack cars. The LS3 will take that car to new heights.

No offense taken because those were not there when I posted this. Suddenly pullout on eBay are reasonable again. Ended up picking a l99 up last night. Think Vvt might work out for my use better? Paid 3200 for the L99 with 36000 including the Ecu and pedal . Still feels pricey but a hell of a lot better than the $6000 ls3 pullouts.

I'll post some pictures tonight of the obnoxiously large winged car. The whole thing is kinda offensive with the hood exit exhaust which constantly shoots flames due to the antilag setup. I will miss it but my pocket and hands will not
