Default Not actual mileage - 2000 Camaro SS title

Hello guys, I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on a very clean 2000 Camaro SS with 67k miles on it but I have one thing holding me back from doing so. Where it says mileage on the title right under it says NOT ACTUAL. Is this a deal breaker for most of you?

Run a Carfax and see what the problem is
In Illinois after 10 years they no longer show miles on titles

Yes, on a 2000 or any modern car, it would be a deal breaker for me personally. No need to go into a potential 'problem' car no matter how clean it appears to be. Too many other cars out there without the mystery of 'what happened'.
** If you are still interested, definitely take hardbones advice about a Carfax. While not foolproof, it might explain the mileage situation.

This would be the first thing I would consider. Depending on state, this might not mean anything at all (like said above, mileage becomes moot on IL titles after a certain age.) So find out if this is normal for the state that the car is titled in. Only then can you decide if this is a problem or not.

To be fair, unless you absolutely 100% know the history of any car you're buying, any car is potentially a problem car.

I agree, check the Carfax, DMV history, and maybe bring the VIN to a dealer and dig up any history on the car that you can. You never know, it possible the cluster failed and was simply replaced with another one.

Looks like Kansas does the same thing as Illinois.

Agreed:

Vehicles 11 model years old or older do not need odometer disclosure statements, however a mileage reading is still required on the application.
So a reading is still required on the application, but they don't specifically state one way or the other if it will be printed on the title. Sounds very similar to IL; mileage isn't printed on our older car titles. For my '71, the odometer box is blank and in the notes (legend) section it says "Mileage not required." For the cars I purchased when newer than 10 years old the odometer box is filled in and the notes section states "Actual mileage."

You could contact the proper KS state office to verify, but it sounds like this is normal for the state and age of car in question.

Iowa drops damage disclosure and milage on titles. 9 years and older it don't matter they say its all exempt. But what is stupid salvage or prior salvage will stay on title. Even after 9 years old.
