Well the old title was when I was pissed and a moderator pointed out the wrongness of it. I feel it right to get that off of google. If you guys want the old thread back a mod can put it back.
I am supposed to pick the car up today and will keep you guys posted (noon-ish was the pick-up time). Hope it all works and works right or back under the knife it goes

you must have the ultimate "Friday Night" car....when I say that, I mean it was a Friday when your car was assembled and the union workers just threw their tools on the floor and went home at 5:00.00pm. Then Monday they forgot where they left off and just put it back together......

EDIT: LMAO! I just looked at all your recent posts. I think YOU take the cake for the most annoying. Almost every time you post you either bitch at the OP or never offer anything constructive. Looks to me like YOU are the one acting an ***.

why was the last thread pulled off? I thought you put in the gear oil, and in your last post you said your waiting to hear from the shop? Did a shop put in the gear oil? Did you get my last statement on the previous thread?

They said there is a slim chance it will whine after re-shimming the pinion but he said that is more of a disclaimer. I don't think it will, but if it does $$$. The car is like new and I cannot stand for crap to be out of place. Will probably get new gears if it DOES whine noticeably. UNlike a lot of people I use the car as a DD and never really hammer on it and the car shows it (I never figured people and cars out, seems if the avg. guy gets something fast he thinks he has to beat the **** out of it. Every F-body rally I go to I gag when I see how poorly maintained and ragged out 90% of the F-bods look). Mint inside and out and I dont want it whining like me when I hear a new ticking sound
Will have more info posted up around 6ish probably.

UPDATE: Apparently SOMEONE has been in my car's rear housing before (I was going to word that differently until I thought of how horrid it sounded). The housing where the pinion bearing race sits was gouged up pretty bad and the shop is going to try and smooth it out so the race will sit well once again. I guess it was some ***-hats fault and not the 85-140 OR the brand of it. We all got it wrong

I wanted to post today in the other thread that maybe someone else played around with it, the dreaded pinion seal leak comes to mind (it's more of an annoyance in the mess it makes underneath factor).

Yeah I don't know about the weight or the brand being a problem. I have the same weight and brand(i read the thread last night) and haven't had any problems in 10k miles or so. I only went with the thicker weight to try and quiet down my warped or chipped pinion or ring gear, whichever it is. Might have helped a little, but I feel it was a waste of money. Eventually I'll just have the gears changed....again. At least I already have a complete replacement carrier out of a 98 to replace mine.

I hope the housing isnt FUBAR. The guy THINKS it can be smoothed out. I hope he is right . This just sucks. I have driven the car 8K miles and spent over 2K on replacements from broken **** and it has spent more hours in a shop than on the road if you figure 60 miles=1 hour (most my driving was highway). I will have to say, GM don't make em' like they used to. My LT1 woulda tore this LS1 thing a new arsehole when it came to reliability.
