Default stalled a4 to m6...thoughts?

I have a built, stalled A4 and really want to switch to a t-56.

I don't race the car at the track any more.... long story for another time. now a few of my questions are.

1. right now i get 10mpg around town (with my 4400 stall), and 18ish on the highway. what do you guys get with your cam'd m6's?

2. From a roll......will a m6 be faster then a stalled auto? say....40mph roll both cars are in the correct gear.

3. for anyone that has done this... did you regret it?

sorry for all the questions. I'm just started to get excited about doing the swap.

Honestly, if you arnt going to race anymore I dont see a point in having that moded of a car. The 6-speed should be a little better on the gas, but do you really want togo through all that trouble. I would just buy a more stock LS1 for a daily driver.

H/C with T56, I get dead on 15 mpg around town with very little highway driving.

You said you have a 4400 stall, that's very large. Probably big enough that an equally modded M6 wouldn't pull you much from a 40 punch. Only thing that would make you slower at that point would be waiting for the downshift, but once you're into 2nd (M6 should already be in 2nd at that point) I doubt the M6 car would pull you any further unless you get to some stupid high speeds. Again, this is all assuming the cars are equal in every way but the trans type.

I just mad the switch from a stalled a4 (3200) to a T-56. The T-56 gets better Gas mileage and is way more streetable. The T-56 is a faster car on the street than my A4. However, i haven't taken my T-56 to the track to see the ET difference. I do not regret making the swap. If you have some more questions PM me.

A smaller stall could give you back some of the driveability you lose with that big stall. The car won't be any faster from a roll and especially if your used to driving an A4 car it will probably be slower from a roll.

I'd downgrade the stall itself!

I had a 3500 stall and couldn't stand it in my TA and you have a 4400. A H/C M6 with a good tune would get similar gas mileage to a stock A4 in the city and little lower if the same on the highway 23-25

^^ Why didn't you like the 3500?
I am putting in a 3600, a friend of mine has the same thing I'm dropping in, and that car is kick-***. I am putting alot more Engine in though, so hopefully it works out nice..

Hey partyhard.. I was thinking the same thing, how much are you willing to spend? The Swap would of cost me about $3500 to have everything setup to handle what is goin into the Car. I would love to have a M6 Bolt-on LS1, but I guess once you start making so much power all you do is spin through the Gears.
Personally I would just drop the Stall down to about a 3200, and Tune the Lockup point a little bit. A good Built/Tuned A4 with a Stall can have no problems running with a M6 on a roll, definately no problem from a stand still.

i bought the car with the 4400 stall. also i can do the whole swap for $100. Money isn't really an issue here.

Yeah most don't realize how good and hard an built A4/stalled car hits. I always get the why would you buy a Vette with an automatic until I take someone for a ride in it!
