Default spare keys from ebay??

i saw on ebay you give them your resistor size and they will get yo a spare key for about 20 bucks.

anyone ever try that? its pretty cheap, dealerships i think want about $100 plus per a key

this is for 1 spare door/hatch key and 1 ignition key.

20 bucks sounds pretty good, i only got 1 key when i bought my car

just cause its your resistor size doesnt mean its unique to your car. there something like 20 different combonations so if you know enought fbody people then you know at least one with your resistor combo. it doesnt mean that if they have your code they can steal your car.... the cut of your key is unique to your car.

I bought a spare set of keys on ebay.
It was easy, just need to identify your resistor and specify it when you
buy the keys. They worked fine.

I dont like the idea. You give somone the means to steal your car if you think about. someone could rob the person, steal a buch of keys, and Cha Ching.

No thank You.

The previous owner only had 1 set of keys when I bought mine. I purchased 2 Ebay keys and went to a local hardware store to cut 'em for me. The guy gave me a funny look when I handed him the keys. He said "I'll cut then, but no guarantees." He's cut keys for me before, I told him I trust him. He charged me 55 cents each and they worked fine.

I also purchased a used Ebay key fob for $25.00. After programming, it works fine too. I saved a bunch of $ and hassles by not going to my local stealer. er dealer.

That's why I said May be an excellent deal. It's simply a comment about the shipping charge. Lots of people are turned off by eBay auctions when it's obvious they are making money on the shipping. The seller should raise the price about $6 and lower the shipping accordingly. It would still be an excellent deal.

well, thts why i go by the TOTAL, not the shipping or item price. i always add up both and go by the total, i know they make money, dont bother me.

an item can be 1 dollar and 12 shipping, or it can be 5 and 8 shipping, its still 13 dollar.....which is what i mean when i say i look at the total. not just focus on the high shippng price.

I think you're a little confused. The keys come blank but with the correct resistor, you still have to get them cut to match your car. Now if they start asking for your VIN # in the auction then walk away, if not, its just a cheaper way to get keys.

I've been looking to get an extra key off ebay too. Last time I bought a vats key it was ~ $45 from an independent locksmith.

They do that to get around ever increasing ebay fees on the SELLING price. Doesn't matter to me as long as the total is a good price.

It may be all right, but my daughter put her house key in the slot to her 2001 Pontiac Grand Am by mistake and it blew out one of her computers. It cost me $400+. JB
