Exclamation I am very dissappointed with ss dyno!

I got the 2000 black ss camaro 6 speed and it is stock except for the optional slp exhaust and air lid with a k and n filter it has 105 k miles on it and i got it dynoed today and i was very dissappointed with the numbers i had two pulls and the highest was only 277 rwhp and 289 ft/lbs of torque!!! doesnt that seem kind of low? i think it coud be the heat cuz it was 90 degrees out... and i have a crack in my exhaust... could those have made it dyno so low... also he made the pulls in 3rd gear...

dyno pulls are in 3rd gear.. heat can make a difference, and a crack in you're exhaust depends on size of crack but if it's ___ i say no

Does seem a little low. Do a compression test on the cylinders. Dyno pulls can be made in 3rd or 4th, really depends on the amount of airflow on the car. And don't be too disappointed...your graph could look like this...

And thats supposed to be good in the turbo'd civic world

Nope...dyno pulls with a M6 are done in 4th gear since it's 1:1.

Can you get to a reputable shop?

i went to speed quest a local speed shop around here... they said it was running rich too... does it make a difference if it was in third gear in stead of fourth and if it does how much of a difference?

Enough to give inaccurate numbers...not that dyno numbers are all that
accurate to begin with. I wouldn't be too concerned with the power output.

Chances are that you're still running the stock tune, which means you're
going to be running rich by default. Keep in mind that you have a high
mileage LS1. It's possible that there are some issues with it, but I doubt
it. I'd start by doing all the basic "tune up" type stuff...wires, plugs, fuel
filter, etc. Get a good tune from Speed Inc or a reputable shop in Illinois...
assuming that's where you're from.

105k miles. When was the last tune up? Change your plugs, etc.

As siad above, 4th gear in a M6. Car probably has some minor issues that need to be addressed before you dyno again. Do a tune-up and fix the exhaust leak before you get disillusioned...

Mine ran 311tq/320tq and all it really had is the K&N CAI and it has 108k miles on it (2000 Z28 Camaro m6). Tell yyou the truth i thought it was goign to be lower than that.

dynoing in 3rd gear will show lower results than 4th gear. Find a better dyno shop that has an operator with a clue. Also, was this a Mustang type dyno, or a Dynojet brand dyno? Different brands show different results also.

How exactly are they suppose to do dyno pulls in an a4? Cuz when you punch it it just wants to downshift unless your going about 70mph and have it clicked to 3rd gear.

M6 dynoes should SHOULD be in 4th gear. Get it redone with that gear and go from there.

dynos should be used to tuning and to measure increases from one mod to another..on the same DYNO. Every dyno is different. Get some real world numbers... i.e.... run your car at the track. Your trap speed will be a much better indicator of how your car is running.

i imagine sence they have a computer hooked up to it that it tells the computer not to downshift or shift into OD? just a guess but seems right

Mine w/ SLP lid and Dual/Dual, through paper filter put down 316hp/325ft.lbs. on a mustang dyno. That was with 57K on the clock.

I say get it re-dyno'd at a reputable shop. Wether it be Mustang, Dynojet, or any other. Once you get a good baseline at a place you can go time after time to get nice repeatable results, you will be set. Let the Modding Begin!!
