F-Bod VS. 351 LX
I'm helping a friend build his mustang it's a 89 LX and we're putting a 351 with a T5 he says that once he make the swap that he's gonna kick my ***.This is comming from a guy that had 2 Camaros 1 LT1 and a 99 Ls1 when he had it he was on top of the world.Saying that mustangs were pieces of **** and everything else in the book but all of a sudden he gets this project and says that the swap is the way to beat my T/A.Is this possible?I don't read up on mustangs and don't care too but is he right?

IF YOU KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE FOX BODY MUSTANGS, ALL HE NEEDS IS 290 AND SOME TRACTION, SAY GOOD BYE TO HIM IF YOUR STOCK CAUSE HE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU, i HATE THOSE DAMN FOX BODIES, IS IT A CLEVLAND OR A WINDSOR. it's a windsor and the T/A is getting an M6 swap at the end of this month with 410's and drag radials.The car has a MTI lid,TSP Rumbler,ORY,LT's,and it's getting a EFI tune.

Well, you probably won't beat him if he has a mean cam, cleaver heads, and a good compression ratio. As far as that, I would say that it is probably a 12second car. Personally if I was building a foxbody myself, I would either build a 460 with a stroker kit or drop in an LSX type engine, but thats just me...

it just depends? what heads,cam,and intake is he using? also is he going carbed or EFI? a 5 speed unless it's a TKO will break before he even gets a chance to race you! and even at that he will probably not get much traction anway? there are just way too many variables to list?

It all depends on what heads/cam. I had a junkyard 351W with a set of 10 year old TW heads/cam combo that made 450/410 to the wheels. I could drive it out to the track, run 6.8's@100...banging gears...and drive it home.
Funny thing, I could never find many LS1s that wanted to race...lol.
