What should i check for when a burning smell comes out the engine after flooring it? I popped the hood when i got home and nothing was steaming or anything :S

Smell like burning plastic? Maybe a problem. Or burning oil? Probably just burning some oil drips off the exhaust. Maybe just burned out some carbon build up in the engine.

Clutch and brakes pretty much smell the same when burning, IMO.

Mine has always done it too. It started doing it after I installed LT Headers. It's heating the floor boards more and the carpet and sound deadener is heating up a tad to make it smell.
Feel the floor boards/tranny tunnel after running the car hard a few times in a row...

some ls1s have a tendency to spit oil into the intake under hard accelleration through the pcv system. all depends on what oil you're using and how much you put in there. i know i just recently changed my oil from M1 5w30 to M1 0w40 and i put 6 qrts in instead of 5.5 and first few times i got on it boy did it smell like burning oil...next time ill stick with just 5.5
