Default Porting 806 heads..Worth it

i searched and could not find a Straight answer so hopefully you guys can help.

I just had some engine trouble so im pulling my engine to install some forged pistons and what ever else needs to be replaced.I would love to go ahead and stick some aftermarket heads on but i doubt i will have the extra cash flow to finance them. But i will be taking my block to a machine shop to check it out and make sure its not cracked and may have him work my 806 heads.

Would it be benificial to me and my mods that i have now ,any suggestions or Input is very very welcome.

Lt headers and xpipe
BBk ssi intake
Supporting valvetrain mods'
Torqer v2 cam
pp tb and MAf
air lid.

my car did 370rwhp with these mods and stock 806 heads

The main reason is i see alot of cars with my same mods but the 01-02 heads that have around 10-20 more hp than me and this is the only thing that i can come up with .If i could port them and make them atleast on par maybe a hair better than the 241 heads i would def do it .i can get it done at a fairly good deal

The only difference between the 806 and the 241 is the casting finish. Porting 806 heads are worth it. I have an extra set of 806 heads set up for a solid roller setup that are very nice. If you have any technical ability what so ever I'd just buy an extra set of heads for $100, read up, and port them yourself.

Yes, port the 806s. The 241s will flow a bit better stock for stock, but once both are ported, the 806 and 241 are equal, assuming the porting job was equal.

Mine are mega hogged out and setup up for a solid roller setup. The spring pockets have been enlarged, the pushrod holes have been clearanced for 3/8ths pushrods, guide plates installed, O ringed, etc... I'll post the pictures of them when I get home. I bought them for $260 shipped in the for sale section. The guy who had them didn't have any info on them. I recognized all the good things and bought them.

For the cost of a set of LS6 243 casting heads. I would say no, 806 castings are not worth porting. Ported 806 heads will flow about the same as untouched 243 heads.

Then you're having the wrong person port them. I've seen quite a few 241 castings flow over or right around 300cfm @ .600 with a sub 220cc runner.

Then there's no point in porting 853s or 241s either

Depends on the flow bench I guess.
