Default Wondering if price is about right?

I'm looking at buying a 2000 formula firebird WS6. Its basically stock with exception to exhaust and shifter. He is asking 12.5k for it and it has 103k on it. Everything looks great nothing wrong at all. Just wondering if price is to high and about how much i should offer up?

Thanks

HOLD THE PHONE...

Went and seen the car today. it wasn't 12.5k it was 11.4k. It is basically stock, the exhaust is
a magnaflow and the shifter is a pro 5. It is flawless, the guy wasn't home but ill be going back later this week to get a better feel and ask the guy some questions. Still unsure about the price, looks like i should offer 10k for it, judging from you guys. Anything else you guys got, this was really helpful.

Thanks

PS can't figure out how to post a pic on this thing. lol

for those miles..... yea, its kinda high. Any Fbody over 100K and without a rebuild should cost no more than 8,000 at best, unless its an 02 special edition (ceta, anniversary, etc)

Plus, you gotta look everywhere, dont limit yourself to just one place. Look at the local trade express, autotrader.com, ebay and craigslist. I was able to find someone a 2000 SS w/ 55k miles in good condition for $8k. I also found my cousin his 98 z w/ 40K miles for 7500.00. Just look around bro

yes, i agree... even for a rare/cool car, that's probably a bit high.

maybe on paper, but really it depends on the car... some higher mileage cars have been well cared for and look/drive new... others are total money holes.

i think the best answer is to go see and drive the car, then get it for less if the condition is good.

12.5 for a 2000 Formula w/103K miles, regardless if it is a WS6 or not, sounds quite high.

So... you're saying any F-body with over 100K miles should have had its engine rebuilt?

I guess I've been lucky, then, since my current TA has 110K miles and the engine hasn't been rebuilt and doesn't need it, either. Same goes to my previous TA, which had almost 120K miles when I sold it.

i take exception to that point as well. cars need to be evaluated in isolation... hi mileage is not a problem for cars that are maintained.

Re-read my post because I never said it had to be rebuilt because of its miles. I was just referring to its price and miles. Only way i could see it being worth over $12,000 is if it had a re-fresh rebuilt motor.

If the car is in excellent condition it might be worth 10k because it is somewhat of a rare vehicle. I would look at it and see what you think.

Considering its a Formula WS6 which is a rare car from the factory Id say its a tiny bit high considering the miles. Its DAMN hard to find a Formula WS6 for sell much less at an attainable price. Id offer around 10.5k and if he wont go lower then 11k its a good deal in my mind.

I paid 12.1 for my 2001 Z28 with only 566xx. That is a bit high for 103000 miles man. You can find cheaper just keep looking. Good luck

You cant compare a WS6 with a Z28 or SS much less a Formula WS6.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....08&postcount=3

232 WS6 Formulas in 2000. If the car is a rarer color, hardtop or 1LE then you have got quite a find.

If you give up on the car PM me the info on it!!

If you're set on a WS6 Formula, then just try to talk him down a little. Those are very hard to find though, so if it's in good shape I wouldn't pass it up. If you'd be happy with a WS6 T/A, then I'd say look elsewhere because those can be picked up for cheaper in comparable condition.

WS6 Formulas are the sex, and the only Firebird I'd want as much as my SS.

That price is definitely high. Also, make sure it is a real WS6 Formula and not someone that just put a Ram-Air hood on it and trying to pass it off as a WS6.

Offer him 10k and settle for around 10.5k man. If the car is as flawless as you say it is and the guy has pretty much all the maintenance records its worth it. Sure its got a few miles but IT is a RARE car.

To post an image youve got to host it on a web hosting site. You cant host a pic on your home computer which is what I guess you tried to do. I use www.imageshack.us for mine. Its pretty easy from there, youll get a url and just plug it into the post. Takes some getting used to if you are a first timer.
