Default Think i found my ls1

I've sold my dumdumdumdumdum recently and have been looking for a ls1 for a little while. I prefer the firebird over the camaros. anwyays, i found a 2001 ws6 with 96,000 miles for 12,000. 6 speed, t tops. It is in great condtion, full exhaust, full intake, and tuned with 342 rwhp. sound like a good deal?

I don't know man. It seems a little high to me with the mileage. I guess it really depends on the owner, is it a young guy that takes it to the track? How many owners? Has it been garaged? Tasteful mods? Carfax? It just seems like you can get a better deal to me, but that's just me.

It's funny, seems that WS6's get few more bucks when they are mechanically the same car as the others. This is mostly based on ignorance of the general public. To somewhat prove my point, last week at advance auto parts, the kid looking under my camaro hood was like "nice, is this a ws6?" lmao. For all people know, WS6 means either superturbonitrotorque injected or carbon fiber valve stems, but either way it's gotta be better. Basically you're paying for a hood and a badge. If you don't need those, then find yourself a trans am or a formula, and I think you'll get a better deal.

well technically, there's a bit more to it, but not much.....hood, badges, bigger sway bars, different wheels, and if i'm not mistaken, a slightly freer-flowing exhaust.

i think that sounds like a nice car.. whether or not the price is fair, depends on how nice.

i would check it over very closely and try to get it for closer to 10k.

Be patient! I got my Firehawk at the end of June last year, 41k miles M6.. for 15k. 3k more than he wants for that used up WS6.. No need to rush when you can find something better, less miles, for similar money.

Yup, finding a clean M6 can be tough. I personally don't see 12k as being a really bad price of any sort. It's still an '01 and has some small mods you would probably end up doing anyway. If it's been well taken care of 96k shouldn't mean all too much.

Right, i already talked him down from 13,5k. I mean, other firebirds are going for about 14k with 60,000 miles in this area. He owes 12k, so he's not really negotiating any lower. and yes, these mods are a nice start, as i will most likely be going with a h/c package in the future.

I find automatics all over, but i cant see myself driving an automatic sports car. It is seriously clean though.

Ya, keep an eye out for a better deal. I paid 9k for a 2000 V6 with 48k on it although it is in pretty much perfect shape I could have scooped up an LS1 with a few more miles on it.

Just a comparison...I bought a '00 SS Camaro, lowered, SLP Loudmouth, 55k miles, and I was the second owner for only $13,900. If it's nicely modded, that's a good thing, but that seems like a lot of miles for the moneys! Be patient, it took me like 2 or 3 years to find just the car I wanted...and I'm very happy with it.

is there such a thing as a safe dry shot? Good luck if you buy it. Myself, it was two years from the day I started test driving ls1 cars to the day I bought the exact one I wanted, my m6 Z 'vert in triple black

And by the way, if you want an m6, don't settle, maybe I need help, but I was laughing for about a minute today after an onramp drop to second chirp followed by a 3rd chirp lol
