Little Help on a Corvette guys. C5 guys com on in!!**
Alright I am lookin at this 1999 Corvette right now. I would never even consider it but I can pick it up for about $9,000.
It has 53,000 miles, Auto, red with tan top convertible, C5 Z06 wheels, looks like it might be lowered too.
Anyways, the trans shifts kinda funny. It seems like you floor it, and it won't wined out. It shifts out of first at like 4-5K instead of going all the way to 6k. The trans shifts firm, but it just doesn't seem right. I know either way the price is great. Just wanna know if anybody knows anything about this.
Anything else to check on Corvettes? I did a CarFax and it all came out good.

Man thats a KILLER deal for 9grand. The title is clean? Yeah I dont know anything about the trans but its just a 4l60e and yeah we all know they are weak points of the A4 cars. Something doesnt seem right though for the price that car should be 20grand espicially since its a convertable and yeah if say the trans is definetly screwed

lol no the title is clear. Its all good. Real nice exterior, interior is a lil beat up.
Like I said, trans shifts great, but just shifts REAL early when you floor it. Unless the TB thinks its not open all the way

Its from an acquaintance so it can't be taken out from under me hahaha.
Yeah I don't know. I'm gonna get it anyways and fix 'er up a lil bit. Needs a lil TLC to restore some lost power.

For 9 grand and it being a convertible, I'd buy it with no tranny.
Get the tranny fixed and put a 3200 converter in there and a set of headers, it will run mid 12's all day long...

Sounds good guys. Thats what I figured I was doing anyways. I was looking more for insight as into WHY its doing what its doing. Pretty sure it'll be in the garage this weekend for a good cleaning and spruce up.

A lot of auto problems cause these issues. The best solution is a an entire trans replacement. You COULD tear it apart and find some bad solenoids, pumps, or connections. You might just have an electronic issue. But each of these problems hurts other parts.
Check out the computer that controls the trans and/or vacuum modulator. Note that I don't know anything specific on the 4l60e.

The 4L60E shifts by MPH. If the rear gears or tires have been changed or there's a faulty VSS, it could cause all sorts of odd shifting behavior. Measure the tires and confirm the rear gear ratio. Then get someone with HPTuners or something similar to check the values in the tune. You got a steal. Take the Vette and run.
