Default SS is getting a new motor!

well I bought the car a month ago from a dealership...a few days after I bought it, it started misfiring...I figured it just needed a tune up. So i did a plug change when I installed my headers...still misfired on cylinder 5. I put in a new PCV valve, fuel filter, cleaned the MAF and switched around the coil/spark plug wire/fuel injector on cylinder 5...still did it. Well A few days ago I finally did a compression test, scared of the results...

results were that cylinder 5 has 55psi! I basically swallowed my ***** on that one. Well I called up the dealership I got it from (a dodge dealership) told them what was going on and they told me to bring it to a chevy dealer (lucky for me, I do the landscaping at a chevy dealer and am real close with the owner)...

Dropped the car off wensday morning to the chevy dealership...

well, just got the news back today....

cylinder 5 had a hole in the piston....had a complete meltdown. Long story short, Im getting a Brand new Long block right from GM under dodge worlds expense....not costing me a dime They think the kid before me sprayed it...however, it doesnt have anything to do with me so it doesnt affect warranty and neither does my headers.

Car ran REAL good for having a complete dead cylinder!

sounds like you had detonation in that cylinder for some reason. maybe the dealer will hook you up on the new engine.

That will be awesome if you get a new long block under warranty.

That's awesome! Hopefully you can keep the old block too, so you can bore & stroke it when the time is right.

as the dealer if they will put in a LS6 for you - the price is similar and sometimes cheaper than a LS1 brand new!

If your tight with the GM owner find out the cost of the stock longblock and then get the money from the Dodge dealership. Then pay a little out of pocket and throw an Ls2/Ls3/Ls7 in there.

The 01's and 02's did not come with an "LS6". Some vehicles received an LS6 Block... thats the only "LS6" about it. And you're lucky they are going to replace it for you.

Besides the LS6 intake that is on all 01's an 02's.

I agree, I would go out of pocket and see what itd cost on top of the ls1 to get an ls2 or l92 or something.. you will thank yourself down the road.Either way I am glad to hear that they are taking care of you.
