Default Cold startup noise. (Vid)

Only happens on cold startups then it's fine.
Power steering pump is a Turn 1 pump & is relatively new & alternator is new.
Doesn't sound to good & it does seem to be coming from the PS pulley.

very much indeed... how is the fluid level??... just because it's fairly new doesn't mean it isn't bad, especially if it was a remanned pump... i hear stories all the time of people installing remanned stuff and it doesn't work

Not sure why it does this though, if the weathers ok then it starts fine but the temperatures lately have been freezing & it was snowing outside then.
I replaced the pump because it was on it's way out & whining, replaced it with the Turn one(bought new) & it has Lucas oil & Slick 50 power steering fluid in it.
Can freezing temps effect the fluid?

Yes the fluid is VERY thick at startup. Lucas is very very thick as well. I would suggest taking a wee bit out and replacing it with another name brand that is thinner. Had this happen when I first got mine.

Ah! I'll try that definitely has more lucas in it than the regular stuff I used to top it off, Just started it again now & it's fine.

That lucas is for worn components. Yours is new and the clearances are much tighter. Probably hence the noise.

Just an update! took as much of the Lucas oil out as I could, it was like tar it was that thick, no wonder my pump sounded like crap.
Anyway, topped it off with regular fluid & the noise died off pretty quick when I restarted it & seems to be fine so far.

Thanks

About the only thing Lucas is good for is relieving you of your money.

Only used it because people on here suggested trying it when my original pump was on it's way out & it says on the bottle you can add 25% in a new pump to stop initial wear.
Think I put a bit too much in though! & it only started acting up when the weather started to freeze, changed the pump last summer.
Word of warning to others I guess, because this stuff becomes sooo thick in cold weather!
