Default '99 Z28 M6 - Low Oil Light?

'99 Z28 M6 w/ 185K miles.

Tonight the "Low Oil" light came on as I started the car. I checked the oil level, but it is fine. The oil pressure gauge is steady and normal. Is this a sensor, and if so, where is it located?

Does this light indicate another issue besides just a low oil level?

Thanks

Bill

It is on the side of the oil pan. I think it is on the same side as the oil filter and if I remember right it is white in color. I think... Sometimes they just quit working. Mine did it right when I got my car. Just changed it when I changed oil.

Mine did the same thing. Just replace it and make sure the wire hasn't been pinched.

A lot of time you can just clean it up and it should work fine at least for a while. Check out shbox website. Hes got tons of info there.

Lots of good info on shoeboxes site-kinda tailored to LT1. Not sure on PN but on LS1 cars the sensor is on the opposite side of the pan and could be different. Was it low? If so it'll take a couple ignition cycles and ECT above 194? for the light to turn off.
