Default AC Belt Replacement.

Being that its been over 90 for damn near a month now, I'm going to have to suffer through the heat and agitation of replacing the AC belt that broke on my car last Fall. From my understanding the airbox assembly and main drive belt have to come off then the AC belt is relatively easy to get to. However, I don't have any jack-stands (let alone an air conditioned lit garage to do this in), is there anyway to replace the belt from up top?

Thanks for any help.

no need to remove the airbox if you have a 98-02 camaro/firebird.

I changed both belts in the autoparts parking lot in about 3 minutes.

Main drive is easy to remove from the top to gain access to the A/C belt. A/C belt is easy to change also, but I would do it from the bottom. I don't know how easy it is from the top.

just changed mine two days ago, from the bottom is easyer imo. If your car is lowered like mine, the most time consuming part is jacking the car up

No need to remove the air box....or even touch it, or even get close to it.......lol

Simply loosen the main belt.....30 seconds to do that.

Jack it up.....3-5 minutes.

Move the main serpentine belt off the crank pulley. Slip the new A/C belt into place. Put a ratchet on the lower tensioner and rotate it like you are trying to loosen the nut and it will move the tensioner so you can slip the belt into place. Let the tensioner go and the belt is on........1 minute.

Put the serpentine belt back on......30 seconds.

Its literally a 5-8 minute job with just a ratchet.

Go for a cool drive.........

I would be quite interested to see someone do that from the top.....

My belt is starting to make a noise, I replaced the serpentine belt when I did the alternator so thinking it is my AC belt. I have an SLP UD pulley, I believe my serp belt was 3" shorter than stock...does my AC belt need to be different?
