Idler Pulley/Belts
Where to buy a new idler pulley? Mines making alot of noise now, recently took off my belts to see what the problem was and found out its the bottom idler pulley.
And what belts are you guys using? Ive never got new belts for any car, so not exactly sure if there's a better brand out there or what.
Makes alot more noise now but i think it may be because of taking the belts off and putting them back on.

Any parts store should have replacement idler pulleys (except for the A/C one, I have YET to find anyone who has it, even the dealership).
One thing to do though, pull the idler off, peel the orange rubber bearing seals off, clean out the nasty black **** GM calls "lubrication" and put some good lube in there (I use Magnalube, but any decent high-temp grease should work). Even new pulleys come really short on bearing grease, which is what causes pulley failures.

Tricky one. This thread has one option: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...need-help.html
I believe the only other option is to replace the whole tensioner assembly or try to re-pack the bearing yourself.

Thanks for the pic Badguy7. I can look at the engine in my car and see all those but the full frontal gives me a good idea about where to route my wrenches. That is after I take off the ram intake etc..can I get to alternator idler without removing the alternator? the alternator itself was a PIA working from under!
