Default Help me Diagnose my AC problem

So when I turn on the AC nothing happens. I get hot air. I dont hear anything kicking in either.

Is it the compressor that went out ?

Or what is it ?

Sorry but I dont know anything about AC stuff.

either compressor/condenser went out or you need some freon. however if ur low on freon more than likely u have a leak

Oh Jesus, really . . . . ? Freon, again. . . . .

Search, get the tools and have fun. . . . . You will fix it, but it will take time.

Or, take it to a shop.

It'd be a good idea to see if your system is even charged. Try to get a quality gauge from a parts store and go from there. I have the same problem as you, but haven't gotten past "getting a quality gauge" on the system yet...

How long does the freon last ?

I know my system was fully charged like 2 years ago. Maybe 3.

And is there a way to test the compressor and make sure it works ?

Ok so, i took the relay off, i used a wire to jump it and see if the compressor would kick in and it DID!!

So i went and bought a new relay and installed i BUT it doesnt turn on with the relay. It only turns on if i jump it with a cable.

Anyone have any guesses??

Check pressure first and foremost. If there isnt enough pressure, it wont turn on. If low, find leak, repair leak, charge AC and test.

I agree... If the compressor is kicking in when you jumper it across but not with the relay you need to hook some gauges up on it and see what you have going there... Sounds like a pressure switch may be telling you theres no freon in the system... My .02

Freon? What's that? Your car uses refrigerant... Not r-12. But yea, being able to read high and low side and KNOWING how to interpret it will solve your problems.
