Default Freaking door won't stop creaking!!!

So, my driverside door creaks like crazy when I open/shut it. I have tried oiling it, and completely drenching every hinge in anti-seize. These both help for maybe 1 week, then it quickly returns. It's so embarrassing because it really is suprisingly loud and everyone comments on it lol.

Anyone have the same problem and find a solution that I am not?

Tanks, guys!

Might be an alignment issue. Do you have any leaks that you've noticed? If not I would try putting some thick grease on the hinge and see if that helps.

I never thought about that...what kind of leaks could I expect? I mean I live in Southern California, and it's been a while since it's rained here, and in the past I've never noticed water coming in through the door other than a tiny bit from my roll up window.

I put some white lithium grease on my hinges and it's been quiet since then. My was very loud also.

From what I understand it's the hinges actually wearing out. The doors on F-bodies are too heavy for the hinges so they sag and then start screeching because they are out of alignment. I know this is a problem on G-bodies too. There is a kit that has stronger hinges for those guys. I would assume we have one too. My door sounds terrible too lol. I'm not sure about this, but it's what I have heard. It makes sense to me.

Agreed!

Get a can of spray white lithium grease and go to town on the hinges!

I've tried that grease too, and it lasted about 2 weeks! And I'd like to change those hinges, but like most things, I'm sure it's more expensive than I'd like to spend. I'll search right now actually to see if anyone sells any!

Let me know what you come up with. Grease only works for a week or so for me too.

After a quick search, I found this: http://www.top-downsolutions.com/doo...59855a9135bbb2

These are specifically for our cars. But again, more expensive than I car to fix a creaking door, even though I do hate it!

You might need new door pins.

This is your problem, 100%. Its an issue with just about every GM door hinge ever made. Inside the hinge's stamped pins is a bearing that has gotten cracked all to hell.

I installed a similar version of this kit and have mixed results. I used the grease-able pins and drilled out my old hinges, which were so badly rusted that the new bearings didn't fit that tight.

If I had to do it over, (I may do it over in a couple of years) I'd buy new hinges and the non-grease-able pins and then replace the hinges with a new/upgraded part.
