Default a.i.r. pump question

I think my air pump is causing my car to sound like its supercharged on startups because it only does it on start ups and quits after driving for a few minutes. If I disconnected the fuse would that hurt anything and shut that pos off? Im a noob when it comes to working on ls1s so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Lots of people take it out, If you disconnect the fuse, you will have a CEL come on, but thats about it.

Yes you can just pull the fuse now, and remove the pump later.

Pull the AIR PUMP fuse while it's making the noise to be sure that's what it is. Leaving it out will throw code P0412 and keep the MIL on unless tuned out, keeping you from knowing if something else happens.

Well I took out the fuse and it stopped doing it but I didnt drive it the rest of the day so I dont know. This noise is so annoying as it increases in speed it sounds like a retarded super loud blower its louder than my exhaust its kind of embarrassing but it goes away after awhile so I am thinking if it was something else it would be making that noise all the time?

When are you going to get more mods that need a tune? Before your next emissions? If so then pull the whole stupid worthless pos off. If you need to do emissions before next mods and tune then just deal with it till after emissions.

your AIR pump should only be kicking on when you first start up, it runs for like a minute to warm up your 02's faster then turns off.
