Question A/C noise

Ok before I spend my Hard earned money I thought I'd ask.
I have a noise coming from my A/C compressor that sounds like a screechy worn out bearing all the time. A/C on or off doesn't matter. A/C works fine cold air is Good. If I spray some WD40 on the clutch while the car is running the noise goes away for a little while and then comes back.

Should I replace the Belt? or the clutch itself? or do i need a new compressor? anyone having any experience with this type of issue? Thanx.

mine was making horrible sounds from the extra pulley being worn out.

theres a little idle pulley between the ac compressor and the crank. hard to see unless you get up under there.

Yes I did that one, I put grease in all of the bearings except the big one on the water pump. This sound is coming from the A/C clutch, when i spray it with WD40 it get quiet for a little while.

I'd go ahead and replace the belt first. I had a loud screeching when I turned on the a/c. I know its not exactly like your problem, but a $20 belt is worth a shot. At least in my area it is

I didn't think that type of belt would squeak but I will replace it tomorrow, thanx.

id make sure that the compressor is not the source. if its close to knocking then its def your clutch, inspect it before it breaks. it sucks that you cant driver your car because ac broke! ive been there

I have had chattering a/c clutches and some electrical contact cleaner or brake cleaner did the trick. There may be alot of dust in there and the clutch may not be able to engage or release evenly with the a/c pulley, If that makes sense...

Yes it makes good sense, so electrical cleaner and not WD40, that is what I tried. I will spray it with dieletric spray tomorrow.

Does it sound like that? My compressor went out and when the AC was on it would make that horrible grinding/screeching noise.

Not sure if that video is any help but i tried.

FML ^ My car makes that nose!

Fubar123 - Did you solve the noise issue & did your AC give cooler air than before?

I replaced the belt and sprayed clutch assembly with electrical cleaner and all is well now.
