99 bird getting rain getting into pcm while sitting outside
So my car got tuned , got wet , can an issue , tracked it down to the pcm , got a used 896 pcm everything was good , it was the old pcm .
The old pcm had water and some corrosion on it .
So i get the car back and from switching pcms and tunes the skip shift light was left one and one other thing i don't remember now . Well anytime i have to bring my car anywhere it rains.
It poured Thursday , i asked the tuner if i could pick it up Friday and he said no, after all the rain the car wouldn't start until he dried the main harness .
Now how the f is water getting into the harness or pcm when the car is sitting outside not being driven?
This never happened before i got my windshield replaced by safe-lite . Where the hell is the water getting into the car and how . Does anyone have any insight .
I don't have the car back yet but i want to see what i can find before i bring things up with safe-lite.

Water can drip off the cowl, right on top of the PCM. When I got my car back in 05 one of the first things I did was get a PCM cover from someone (I can't remember who). It's the same as this but painted SOM: http://showstopperaccessories.com/pr...-LS2-LS6.html#
I'm not sure why GM thought it would be a good idea to mount the PCM face up where water can access it. I'm guessing you have a dry/cracked seal and that's how water is getting in.

GM has a TSB for this connector and calls for replacing that connector seal whenever the PCM is disconnected. The TSB details are in this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...onnectors.html

They are still out there. Delphi makes them and all of their pieces can be had. It looks like the GM part number may not be good any more. I'd start by checking out the following resources:
- Our sponsors:
http://www.speartech.com/
http://racetronix.com/
- Ask a dealer to look up the old part number and see if there is a current cross reference. If not, ask them to do a national search.
- Mouser can order them, but... only in quantities of 1000.
