2004 LS6 Maintence
Hi everyone, Yesterday I received my LS6 in the mail (2004 CTS-V) for a swap. I am not sure of actual mileage, I just know it is "under 100k" I already have it on a stand to change the oil pans, and was curious if there is anything else that is recommended to do while the engine is easy to access? I plan on doing plugs, what brand is recommended for an engine that is going to see lots of high RPM abuse? How about the water pump, do those need replaced often? I am coming from the Subaru world where timing belt/pump are due at 100k, but as far as I understand the LS chain doesn't need any maintenance?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It really all depends on how much money you want to spend and what do you feel like doing with the engine. Right now is a great time to add a cam because it's out of the car, but for general maintenance I would at the very least buy a set of GM blue performance springs and new valve seals ls6 style.

I'm trying to avoid modding it at this point. The engine has a 6 month warranty and I don't want to do anything that would void it before I know it runs and is in good shape. I am planning on running it this season then doing some mods (supercharger) next winter.

Would still do the springs and valve seals.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love 240's, but I really love E46's.
So I opted to just replace the plugs (TR6's) and Wireset for now. Im going to get the engine in and running and then look at replacing the valvesprings once I know the engine is OK.
