Default Whine from engine but not power steering or accessory drive.

Hey guys my car started making a whine but it's not from any pulleys (removed the belt) or ac belt (car doesn't have ac installed) the whine gets louder with the rpms but it sounds just like a power steering whine. It is definitely coming from the engine but not sure where. The car is a 95 240sx with a ls1/t56 out of a 2001 camaro ss. Engine is bone stock without any of the emission equipment. Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Power steering I would think.... Do the turkey baster method to cleanse out the old fluid. This helps, but if it keeps doing it an aftermarket cooler might be needed

It's not power steering. I ran it without the belt on and still makes the sound.

torque converter?

my old Firebird started whining which increased in pitch with the rpm but wasn't an accessory and it turned out to be a failing TC.

couldnt resist, and i want to wait for u to see that but ill forget to post again.
would bet either pilot bearing, or throwout bearing on slave cylinder, or bearing in transmission. if it does not whine when parked with clutch out and high rpms then i think that would point more toward bearing in transmission but it may hard to diagnose
it may only happen when car is moving and things are under a load

it makes noise when I rev the engine with it in neutral not moving. Not coming from transmission.

In neutral the input shaft will still be spinning with the engine so it could be a transmission bearing.

Quick Reply: Whine from engine but not power steering or accessory drive.
