Ran my 96 t/a through car wash and acting funny. Question.
Ok, I took my 96 t/a with a predator hood, functional ram air through Mikes Car Wash.
When I pulled car out the engine started to steam (as if water hit it). So I sat for a few seconds was idoling kinda rough so I gave little gas and it seemed to stop. So as I drove it a bit and at lights it would idle funny.
The transmission wouldn't shift as quick say it usually shifts at like 2000 was shifting at liek 3000+ and then it would jump.
But after 5-10 minutes of driving it seemed to stop and car was fine.
All liquids are new, all hoses and belts are new.
Was wondering if this was caused by water hitting the engine?
If anyone can help me please let me know. Thanks.
Matt

never do that again. the opti spark is sensitive to water. it sounds as if it got wet. have you driven the car since then? does it act normal now? if it does count your blessings. the opti spark is the distributor for the LT1/4 engines. its behind and below the water pump. yeah greta place to put it since its sensitive to water, but anyway just be careful with it. any normal carwash that doesnt wash under the car will be fine

lucky enough mine acted weird, and then in a week the opti must have dried off or something, cuz it disappared....
there should be a disclaimer bout this in the manual

I use to run mine thru the car wash almost weekly, and yes I got the underside cleaned everytime, never had a problem. Water pump had a leak for a couple months too before I replaced it. Got 145,000 on the original opti. Yeah my middle name is lucky. I better shutup or i'll be replacing an opti next week, that's how my luck usually goes!

undercoating is just more dedweight, my car has been driven in ohio winters since it was built up until this year 10 years, very very minimal rust underneath. don't see a reason to undercoat these cars...
