Ok I have a quick question. My brakes are about due for a change and it seems that my rotors are getting worse and are starting to shake pretty bad. I was wondering that if I should turn all four rotors or just the front two???thanks

Generally, you can turn rotors only once. If you are going to spend time doing the brake job, you should turn all four or replace the fronts with new rotors and turn the rears.

70% (??) of braking is done with the fronts not rears.

If cash isnt an issue I always just buy new rotors. I've had a couple bad experiences with idiots turning the rotors too far, saying it'll be ok, when it's not. Alot of people run Autozone rotors, myself included. They're a pretty good rotor for the money.

I run the Autozone rotors too. If I had the cash I would have ponied up for the Brembo Blanks from Strano. Removing media from the rotors makes them even more prone to warping, so I just put new ones on my car.

luckily, my buddys dad owns a shop and i get all my parts at wholesale. but if i were you, i would turn the rear rotors and replace the front rotors. thats what i have always done.

Depending on how bad the warp is, you might have to scrap the rotors...often by the time you get done cutting a set of warped rotors to even them out, you are below thickness spec.

ok cool...around how much are the rotors at autozone?

Do you guys run the duraslast gold (ceramic) pads at autozone too or do you run another brand say like the morse ceramics or carbon metalic or just a straight up semi-metalic?

I wouldnt run autozone rotors... Get new pads for the front and turn the front rotors...

The duralast gold rotors are just fine, many guys run them without any issues. I got some PBR pads from strano with Hawk HPS for the back.

Just curious why you wouldn't run AZ rotors? Is that like not wearing K-mart clothes!

There is probably more people running them on this board alone than any other rotor without issues. Look at all the issues others have with other rotors. I would never turn a rotor that is more than likely going to be used in a high performance scenerio. Of course due to funds some people have no choice! But I would suggest saving up for new ones.

It amazes me on how people in general cheap out on some of the most important parts of a car. Like getting used tires (not that all are bad) and getting drums/rotors turned for performance vehichles. My family has a couple salvage yards in Ohio and I know people that have gone to the Junk Yard for pads.

I just think they are a cheaper brand and I personally would not use them on my car..Wow junk yard for pads never heard that one before..I run all brembo rotors with pbr pads on the front and hawk pads on the back total costs 480.00 shipped made a huige difference..

I agree they are a cheaper brand. It's not that they're a whole lot cheaper either. They run around $300 for all 4. I dont run others because I rarely run my car hard or do high speed stops. I drive less than 5k a year with my car.

I just see alot of people saying don't do this or that or I wouldn't do this or that and never say why. So I get a little curious. Most people have never even tried or used some of the items they respond about. They usually have a buddy that didn't torque the lugs right or use the old pads and warp a rotor, then blame the rotor.

very true, Yes I can see if you dont drive your car much or at high speeds where you would not have any trouble..I know I have used the cheaper quality stuff before and had trouble with brake pad dust turning the chrome wheels black..
