Lost my gas cap key...
I can't my main set of keys and my spare set does not have a gas cap key. This I realized when I was at the gas station yesterday. I didn't have enough gas to get home so I parked it in a parking lot about half way home. I looked for my main set last night and can't find them so my car is still sitting in the parking lot.
Does anybody know how to get the gas cap off without a key?

I bet if you got a large set of channel locks, you could get enough leverage to break the lock and twist the cap off. Those locking caps never really seemed that secure to me. Mostly to keep cocksucks from putting **** in your tank.

They locking gas caps are very easy to remove with nothing more than your hand.
Take said hand and try to grab the underside of the cap. Then lift away from the neck and turn like normal.
9 times out of 10 the cap will unscrew just fine like that. I dont know how many times I have removed them like that. When you pull on them and unscrew them at the same time it keeps the one way system from working.

I tried the pull and twist thing and that didn't seem to work. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Either way, I found the key so problem solved. Now I'm either going to replace the cap or make 50 copies of that key.

It was not an option. It was, however, the very first upgrade I made to my fbody. Nothing worse than finding sugar in your tank. I never understood why GM did not make the cover the semi-locking type, where you have to release it just like a hood release. Another cheap move by GM, I guess.
