i would go with the Siemens, either way they all have lifetime warranties. once you do 1 or 2 you can swap those bad boys out in a few minutes. i actually have a kit setup for doing power windows on f-bodys lol

I replaced my drivers side a year ago and got the part at advance auto parts and paid $36 for it with a lifetime warranty. Presto is right it doesn't take long to do one..the first one I did took about 45 minutes now I can do one in about 25 minutes...nothing to it dude ..

CardOne sucks. Either the Siemens or the Dorman.

Definitely not the first two. (The Siemens unit is also re-built.) I went through 4 of them - they all sucked.

Go in to the store and ask to see the motors out of the box. They have one motor, which is a new unit with a new case design. (It won't look like the OEM motor or the other re-built ones.) The new design is supposed to be sealed better and keep out the dirt and other stuff that tends to foul the original motors.

My receipt for the mew design matches the model number for the Doman model; however, it was an exchange for a burned out motor so I can't trust that 100%. I highly recommend you go in to the store to get them so you can visually confirm they are good.

Well I put the new motor in yesterday. The job was not too bad although it took a while, I had a hard time getting the new motor lined up correctly. The gear on the motor would not seat right for some reason but I finally got it in.

Now it will be time to do the passenger side soon. If it roll up both windows at the same time the drivers side is all the way up by the time the passenger is only half Gotta thank GM for the wonderfull design since both motors are pretty much shot with only 27k miles on the car oh well it could be worse.

Oh yea I bought the Dorman, the only complaint that I have with it is that it would've been nice of the bolts where just a bit longer.

I'd just open it up and take the resistor out...it'll work better than a new one...mine did.....If your motors completely dead.....swap out the switches......I just replaced my driver side window switches for 7 dollars.....worls like a champ

Where did you buy the stock window resistor and how were you able to replace the resistor, im assuming you also save money by doing this?

My window gets stuck half way down and i have to keep pressing the up buttons to get the window fully up but i have to press the window swiitch every 4 minutes or less to get the motor to eve move. Could the window switchs be bad and not the window motor?

Don't forget about the AutoTrix kit available at the ws6store

http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...4c2ab1bc40b6d2

You can do a search and find lots of info and comments on how well it works.

get the autotrix kit for your passenger window. i cant believe how well it worked for my 2000 trans am. i put on on my drivers side too yesterday, but my motor was too weak to "wake up"
gotta get a new motor, and then it should work great.

Just a FYI on those Autozone "Lifetime warranty". What they don't tell you is, it's the lifetime of the window motor they just sold you.
i.e. If the motor lasts for 10 years then goes out, you take it back and get a replacement, simple, BUT, the replacement only carries a 3 month warranty, so 10 years and 90 days is your warranty.
Now, this is where the fun starts, if the motor only lasts 6 months and takes a dump, when you take it back and get a replacement, again you only get a further 90 day warranty, so in this senario, your "lifetime warranty" is actually 9 months.....

Default wronge motor

I just purchased the discount auto window motor $54.+ tax. Siemans #WL42001

when reading the instructions it came w/ stated it was for a 91- 82 model 4 door truck did't state anything about being for a trans am.

did they give me the wronge motor?
I'm thinking they did because post #1 claims Part Number: WL42014 to be correct PN

Thanks
