Default Wheels drive while in neutral? A4

***This question piggybacks another thread i started about a vibration after changing my brakes.

I feel like a dumbass asking this.

Your wheels shouldn't spin or accelerate while in neutral, on jackstands. Correct?

Here's the whole story;

As far as I know they shouldn't. I have never tried it, but there should be no mechanical link between the engine and the driveshaft to cause them to spin.

my A4 does it in snow and ice, if stuck and in neutral the rear will spin.

Yes if the wheels are off the ground the wheels will drive in neutral.

I personally have never seen this happen! I've had a couple of 9-10sec cars, and they've never done that in neutral. Are you running a cam and a tight converter?

It's the forward clutches in the transmission. In neutral there is just enough friction to make the wheels move.

Yep any auto tranny I've seen does this. You can stop them real easily but there is just enough to make them spin if nothing is stopping them.
