Default Oil Leak!!!

Checked my oil today and im way low almost to the add oil level...im about 500 miles from my next oil change...just wondering where i could be losing this oil and if it is a major problem...i still have all my power but this kinda is scaring/confusing me. No wierd noises and everything seems to be in good shape.

How many miles since your last oil change would be very helpful info. As would be how much you intially put in and if you've added any previously.

What the guy above said, to me it sounds like your common ls1 oil useage. my 98 with 140k miles uses between 1/2-1 quart between oil changes.

Look in your intake manifold for excessive oil residue.
I you notice too much, try using a pcv catch can kit.

its been exactly 2122 miles since my last oil change...put the typical amount of mobile 1 5w-30 in. ill check the intake to see if there is any residue when i get up. But like i side its way down. just above the add oil...is that typical to lose that much between oil changes?

What year car do you have? My engine with M1 5w30 used almost the same amount of oil as you. I have a 2002 WS6. I'm going to be switching over to the Penzoil Platinum I think and see what happens. I run Mobil 1 in 5w30 in all my vehicles and have noticed more oil consumption than usual lately. Going to try switching brands and see what happens.

My LS1 used to eat Mobil 1 like crazy. 1-1/12 quarts in less than 3k miles. I've since switched to Amsoil and the oil consumption problem has all but disappeared.

I'm really starting to believe the hype that Mobil1 isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm going to be switching to Valvoline MaxLife Synthetic at next oil change and see how that does.

I really would like to run the Penzoil Plat. due to all the good reviews but I also want a high mileage oil. Unfortunately Penzoil doesn't make a syn high mileage.

I have 4 cars in my household that ran Mobil 1 5w30 and interestingly enough, they all recently have started using oil. Coincidence? Probably not. Out it goes!

I run Valvoline 10-30 in my 98 Camaro. Zero oil consumption.

I am right around 75k.

Straight up old school conventional 10-30 Valvoline. The cheapest and I guess the best(for my car).

i always wondered if there was really any difference using synthetic vs. regular oil when your changing out the oil religiously every 3k miles.

on my old 2000 Z28 i used castrol GTX 10W-30 and i had no issues at all.
