Flowmaster for ls1?
I have a 95 TA with flowmaster catback and love the sound. I just bought a 2000 TA WS6 and was wondering if the sound would be the same with ls1 as the lt1?
thanks

Re: Flowmaster for ls1?
pretty much ya, umm, it sounds a tiny/tiny bit deeper on lt1's
But I still personally think the Flowmaster sounds good on the LS1.

Re: Flowmaster for ls1?
I've had many, many exhaust setups on my LS1 cars trying to find the "perfect" (to me) sound. I've tried both Magnaflow and Flowmaster (among others) and the Flowmaster sounds much better/louder/deeper. Magnaflow does flow better, but the sound just isn't there, IMO.
Bassani beats them both :p

But as far as cat-back systems/mufflers go, the GMMG beats them all.

GMMG is probably the best cat back out right now. Ryan, let these guys know exactly where it rasps at cause I dont know off hand and I know you do. Take it from someone that bought flowmaster: Dont buy it, you can get great sounds from better flowing cat backs. Flowmaster = Slowmaster

Re: Flowmaster for ls1?
I had a flow and replaced it with a Magna Flow. It sounds much better and it makes much more power. I think the flowmaster is good for 4 RWHP and the MAgna is good for 15 to 20 RWHP. Sound much deeper and no rasp.

Re: Flowmaster for ls1?
Flowmaster only rasps with an ORY, around the 2100-2500rpm range. It never rasped on my car when it was running through cats though.
Don't know how anyone can say that Magnaflow is deeper sounding than Flowmaster, I just flat out disagree with that statement. No arguement on the power gains though, Flowmaster probably makes the least power of any catback out there for these cars.
Personally, I wouldn't buy either the Flowmaster or the Magnaflow setups again. There are much better systems out there in both the low and high end price ranges...
But I've only tried about 10 or 15 different exhaust configurations on LS1s so what do I know? :p

GMMG is a very high quality system that I think sounds great, looks good too. It seems to make power just fine from dynos I've seen.
But it's very pricy...

Re: Flowmaster for ls1?
Flowmaster does not cost power over a stock base LS1 system. Hell, I've seen just the replacement 80 series Flowmaster muffler make 5hp gains, and the full 3" in dual 3" out system with mandrel bends is even better. Best gain I've seen from the American Thunder 53083 catback system for LS1 cars is 10rwhp on a stock Z28. Granted, many don't see even half that gain, but the point is it's not costing power.
It doesn't matter to me, I pulled my FM catback off long ago to move on to other systems, but I'd take it back ANYDAY over stock if those were my only two choices.
Flowmaster also has a very nice sound to it.
