Default Ram air on a Firehawk

Ok guys, I realize that the Firehawk hood dosnt flow air as well as the WS6 hood dose. my ? is would the free ram air mod (cutting out the bottom of the air box) help me out any. it looks to me like it would help me get more air, but I wanted to get some more ideas before I started cutting. give me your 2 cents on this.

either way you should do the free mods. My buddy on his Z28 did the free ram air mod then ran 2 hoses to connect to his bottom shield in the front (the plastic protector that hangs down). He said he can feel it better then the free ram air mod by itself cause it was actually forcing the air through the bottom more then before. I will try to get some pics.

When u guys say the free mod, you talking about cutting away the piece right below the airbox below the filter?

Hmmm, have you thought about de-baffeling the hood and sealing it to the airbox?

I've seen WS6 lower air box/radiator supports on Firehawks. I'd remove the baffles in the hood and add a WS6 lower air box.

I did the free ram air to mine, didn't bother to raise the air box though, also ran an SLP lid, worked fine.....

ON MINE I DID THE SLP KIT WHERE YOU GET THE DUCT THAT GOES IN PLACE OF THE FREE RAM AIR MOD ITS BASCIALLY THE SAME THING EXCEPT THE SLP MOD HASA DUCT THAT ALLOWS AIR TO ENTER FROM LOWER DOWN THUS YOU GET COOLER AIR INSTEAD OF WAHTS FLOWING OUT OF YOUR RADIATOR. THE PART WAS CHEEP AND ID RECCOMEND IT TO ANYONE, HELL EVEN WHEN I GET MY RAM AIR HOOD ILL LEAVE IT SETUP HOW IT IS NOW PROABLE. BUT ILL REMOVE THE PIECE OF INULATION THAT SLP SUPPLIES TO BLOCK OFF THE ORIGNAL AIR ENTREANCE.

The WS6 Lower-Airbox doesn't fit on Firehawks that use the SLP/Donaldson OEM lid, FYI....

Will when used with a regular lid. Didn't realize the batwing was that much taller.
