Default downgrading from true duals?

so right now i have qtp headers going to an 'azps true dual' setup, which consists of an x pipe and some borla xr1s (2.5 inch piping) that goes all the way out the back. the problem is, the car is lowered, and i drag this exhaust on damn near everything, so on top of grinding all the time it leaks like a **** too.

im wondering, will a heads/cam car putting down 430 hp be hindered by a stock style (y pipe) setup? i know that flow restriction is bad, but backpressure is good (to over generalize it).. figured id gain some low end but lose some top end? (id kinda rather not do that.. its pretty much a top end car)

anyway, sorry for the long post. let me know

Its all gona come down to the Y-pipe. Get your hands on the smoothest merge collector you can afford (they can get up there) and get a custom y-pipe built. Look in Pat G's 500rw thread for reference.

Flowmaster merge pipe, mandrel bent U bends, and some custom work and you'll be fine....maybe even with more hp depending how bad the true dual exhaust was.

alrighty... so 3" pipe to a 4" collector (the more expensive the better), back down to 3" for the catback.. not too bad.

now to choose, hooker, magnaflow or slp dual/dual

I've got a 4" Flowmaster merge and a hooker exhaust without any tailpipes. You can hear it in my sig on the 4" merge link.

Check out mufflex systems. They have every thing for your set up. Y pipe, and full cat back system. They have choices between 3 1/2" to dual split or single exit w/ flowmaster or spintech muffler or 4" to single exit with flowmaster or spintech muffler. They even have soundb bytes to listen to.

Why not just get the QTP y-pipe? The thing flows like crazy and fits great with the QTP headers, just takes a little elbow grease to get it all lined up right. I haven't scraped once, and I've driven over some hefty speed bumps. But then again I'm not lowered.

i did the same thing you did. Went from TDs to a y pipe b/c of clearance.

What i did was took a Kooks Y pipe, cut it and made it customizable with my set up and added a Flowmaster Merge

Yep, here's a link to the e cutout 4" y. Pricey as hell but if you bought the cutouts seperate and then had someone fab you up a custom y, you'd have a hard time beating the price. At least around where I live.

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/...ls1headers.php

I think a couple of sponsors carry them but not many at all.

I don't know anything about the malicious hackery, their site looks and functions the same as it always has
