Should I trade my Hooker Catback + Cutout for Under the Axle Duals w/ XR1's?
I was offered to trade my hooker catback and cutout for a set of 2.5" under the axle true duals with Borla XR1 mufflers. He wants to trade because they're too loud. I am pretty happy with my setup, but not fully satisfied. With the cutout closed the car sounds really good, but it is too quiet for me. With the cutout open the car sounds awesome at idle and WOT but I don't like the tone at part throttle or under load. So should I trade this guy? I'm going to hopefully go see the setup in person tomorrow so I'll post pics and maybe a vid.
My concerns:
- I'm lowered and don't scrape much at all now, but I'm not sure about the duals. I saw a quick pic of them and they seem to tuck up pretty good, but they're still running under the axle.
- Will these mate up with my pacesetters? He has QTP's.
Basically, is this worth it?

What? Are you serious, under the axle dual looks like ****. There is no way I would even consider it for any circumstance. Its probably the real reason he is getting grid of it.

BOB!!!
like everyone else said, under the axle just isnt the thing to do. Your car sounds good with your cutout and like you said with it closed its nice and quiet, that will go away instantly with those pipes.
i say keep your setup now

Wow It never fails to amaze me how many people think under axel TD's look "Ghetto". I like em, better than the plethora of bends and turns over axel makes.
OP up to you man, listen to them both and decide what you like best.

I went and saw them in person yesterday and I'm still torn. They sounded great and were nice and loud, but they hung pretty low. This guy's car was lowered even more than mine and he said they scrape every so often but not too bad. It's definitely tempting, but I'm leaning towards keeping my exhaust. It tucks up great and sounds pretty good. Mainly I don't want to have to deal with getting the duals to fit right and mate up to my pacesetters, and I'm afraid I'm going to regret the ability to make the car quiet (say when I drive it long distances). I'm going to keep thinking about it and he is going to get me some pics so I can check it out up close (It was dark when I saw them so I didn't really get a chance to really see the clearance). Definitely kind of a tough decision.
BTW, I disagree with under the axle duals looking ghetto. I think it makes the car look like a terminator, which look mean as hell from the back

To each their own... If you like the look of the under the axle, go for it, there's nothing wrong with it. It's what makes your car, your car.

Man I capped my cutout today, drove my 70 miles to work and realized my car doesn't shake or rattle all the time. I guess I'm getting old. Although it was pretty quite... I liked the ride again. Nothing shaked, rattled or squeaked. If only it didn't hinder power with it capped. I'll uncap it after this tank of gas. I had never thought if it like that. The "Termi" look.....hmmm Good point.
