Default exhaust cut out

I have searched and seen some threads. But still wanted a better answer. I have a 1998 z28 with pacesetter longtubes, pacesetter off road y-pipe and a magnaflow muffler. I also have 1 cutout right infront of the rear passenger cut out. When the cutout is open the car feels slower then when it is closed, Both take off and top end. Maybe its just in my head. but anyone ever had a problem like this?

You would lose a little low-end Torque when you open the Cutout..

Thats a myth that you lose tq when its open. You are not slower. The cutout being loud just throws your senses off. Go to the track and see the et difference. Its there and with a gain.

It's proven that you will lose some Torque.. many people have proved this on the Dyno..

I've ran both with the cut out open and closed, I ran faster with it open. On the dyno I also made more power with it open.

did you guys also noticed that when its open the gas gauge goes down a little bit more but if you close it at the next startup it seems like it goes back up a little.

I guess it depends on your setups and how restrictive your exhaust is.

yeah i was gonna say you would have to have a restrictive exhaust to gain so much from the cutout.

i dynoed my car with the cutout open and closed. at the time of the dyno the only mod i had was slp lid, smooth bellows and k&n filter. I was on stock exhaust. dyno was on a dynojet

cutout closed- 325rwhp 342rwtq
cutout open- 330rwhp 341rwtq.

now with the mods i have now i redynoed it with the cutout closed and then open on a mustang dyno

cutout closed - 394rwhp 364rwtq
cutout open - 409rwhp 377rwtq
