Default Full 85mm setup

Here is a topic for discuttion that I'll throw out there as someone may already know, I can't get a whole lot out of the search today.

Pro's/Cons to a full 85mm setup - Lid, MAF, TB, and hogged out intake snout to 85mm

Compared to 85mm Lid, MAF, and either stock TB or stock TB opening

As pertaining to a bolt-on motor, any information regarding velocity vs quantity of air, etc..

Here we go I'll add in some more, given a perfect volumetric efficiency a 350ci motor can only move 608cfm@6000rpm and 658cfm@6500rpm, does anyone know the flow rate on the stock throttlebody?

I'm no expert, but how can this one not make more power. Considering how restrictive any stock parts are on the LSx engines. You're bolt-on stock cube engine should love it.

85mm all the way through, nice to have no weak link.

Yeah I'm on the tune, my sig hp is self tuned.

Back to the original topic; Bernoulli's Principles on fluids, how does that play into the above topic.

Well, I will give a very general answer. The numbers you quoted for airflow are assuing 100% VE. These engines fall in the 1.08-1.12 range as far as VE goes. So, if you take your 658*1.1= 723.8.
The stock LS1 throttle body flows 880cfm @ 28" of water. A good ported one flows 930ish. You would see roughly 5hp when swapping between these throttle bodies. I am not sure what the flow numbers are on a 85mm, but I do know they will make about 5-7hp at the wheels.
Now, it really doesn't make sense, but it does make more power. I would guess you could pick up around 10rwhp if you switched and did all of the changes.

Hope this helps.

Finally some answers, would there be a difference between keeping the stock TB and porting it vs upgrading
