Default Opinions/past experiences w/ MAF ends please...

I did a search and have been reading the past few nights. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have bought them. I see mixed reviews about anything MAF related.

Right now I am considering borrowing a set of untouched stock MAF ends and doing a back to back track test to verify. I would reuse my stock ends, but I pulled the screen out - hence why I bought a used MAF, car began to ping more often.

I would appreciate any help on this subject matter. I'm an LS1 noob hungry for knowledge.

I ported the stock ones myself on my '98 Z28 and I found them to be a great, cheap mod. However I ditto what Mike C. said about them not being great for Automatics, thought it had something to do with the coolent lines for the A4.

High RPM ping is not uncommon with MAF ends. Personally, I ran some in an M6 car for about two years without issues. The only reason I swapped back is my tuner asked me to.

porting or maf ends, alters the calibration of the maf.

anything that alters the calibration, can cause problems.

I've got a set of stockers here (i bought to Polish the OUTSIDE for looks) for my car, if your in orlado, i'll let you borrow them to test your theory out.

Ryan.

I'm not quite in Orlando, but nearby. I was at the track this past Saturday night for the Midnight drags. Didn't run, but sat and watched. Did you get caught up in the traffic from the accident on 50 afterwards? I sat in traffic almost an hour. The bike in the left lane was smashed to pieces.

i went to the corner of orange and 50, it was dead due to the midnight drags, i did not go out there, as i had no cash, and no desire to go.

My ported ends made me run lean, and the car is a six speed, on the dyno my af was 14.7, the car was stock except a LM and K&N Fipk so it had to have been the ends making me run lean
