Do you need any type of flex joint when building a dual exhaust?
Do you need any type of flex joint when building a true dual (or sort of true dual with an H pipe) exhaust for a rear wheel drive car?
If you need one, where do you need to put it?
What kind of flex joints are out there, besides the metal-weave ones?

no flex pipe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there only good for a quick fix until you could have it done right. i have done an h pipe exhaust before i really dont know the performance diff between the two.

I have flex pipes on mine. The engine does flex a bit since i don't have poly motor mounts. I thought it would be a nice thing to allow it to do it. I am the only system i have seen with these though. I'd imagine they are not necessary but they don't hurt my system.

no.. look around in the true dual sticky at the top of this forum. I don't there there is a single car with flex pipes or any kind of flexible piping or joints at all.

There isn't much of a reason to use on a longitudinal engine car as long as it has good motor mounts and the exhaust is built with enough clearance. A transverse engine car it would be a different story though.

no flex needed. i have flanges on my headers for my true duals and hangers the rest of the way back(to right before the rear end) unbolting the header flanges drops the whole system....

I think they would really help on our cars. I dont have them on my exhaust, but I wish I did. You can tuck the system up alot tighter without worrying about clearance with engine movement.
At work we use flex joints on every single car we put exhaust on. You can solid mount the exhaust the whole way to the back.
