Default Underdrive pulley during cam swap?

Is paying nearly $200.00 for an underdrive pulley worth the money and do they offer any noticeable power gains? Basically would installing one be a wise choice or should I just use the stock one and get something else better? Just want some opinions from people with an underdrive pulley installed. Thanks

i put a UD pulley, just because the stock one had to come off anyway during my cam swap. I like it, i feel faster revs and reduces some stress off the motor..

If you got the bucks, complete the mpg package and add an Electric Water Pump too. Add both at the same time and your engine revs so much quicker that you'll have to almost re learn how to drive the car. Very different pesonality post install.

I did mine after the cam install. I gained 14rwhp & 12rwtq. Best bang for the buck on the car so far. Definitly do it.

For LSX stuff, it is worth it.

If it was for a LT1, it would not be worth it from my personal exp.

if you have the cash for it...its hard NOT to do it, since the damn thing is such a pain (and sometimes a risk...busted bolt) to remove.

its worth a little power, but not enough that you'll feel it probably. althuogh the feeling of faster revs is a common thing. but even that's pretty subjective.

did anyone swap out the alternator pulley also? or can you just leave the stock one on there without any issues?

Well I guess it wouldn't hurt, faster revs would be nice and I'll have the stock pulley off anyway. I allready have a Fidanza aluminum flywheel so it should be even more snappy.
Cam plus snappy revs = a sick sounding LS1.

funny...i almost posted this:

"if you want REALLY fast revs...try a lightweight flywheel!!"

biggest thing i notice is once you break the tires loose...it spins to redline REALLY fast!!!

Default How about the '04 LS6 CTS-V ?

I can read, but it might be an omission:

-98 through 02 LS1 Camaro and Trans-Am
-04 through 06 LS1 and LS2 GTO

Did not swap the alt pully. I have not noticed any difference in the voltage either.

I know you get a gain but seriously? You had it on a dyno, all tuned and done, swap JUST the pulley, repulled and you gain 14rwhp and 12 rwtq? No other mods including tuning done at the same time?

Hard to believe.

I think they're worth it for how cheap they are. I'm about to do a H/C setup on my vette and I'm definitely doing it at the same time since we have to pull our steering rack to get the pulley out!
