Default Ticking noise with Jethot headers

Guys/Gals:

I have had my jethot headers on for about 3 weeks now. Just developed a loud ticking noise and does not seem to be a header leak.

NO I did not do the AIR Restrictor Plate MOD!!!

I know, I will do it.

Where are the AIR Check Valves located, since I may need to check them to see if they are burnt up?

I have the sheet metal and the 4 AIR gaskets for the restrictor plate mod, just have to find some time to do the install, but figured while I do that I might as well check the AIR check valves just in case they need replacing.

Thanks.

The air check valves are the little black round barrel like jobbers threaded onto the air tube, just after the bend in the small pipe that was secured to the top of the header.

It is the little black thing just to the left of the master cylinder, and a mirror image on the passenger side.

Does that make any sence?

A.I.R. restrictor plate mod will stop the ticking. But if they are ticking now, you need to replace the check valves first.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but on the above picture of the red SS there is a tube in front of the intake but behind the throttle body.....What the hell is that?

I have never seen that before except on engines equipped with an NX system, so I thought it was something NX did since I know nothing about nitrous. But now I see it on this car so I am thinking maybe its the EGR which I have no expierence with. Just guessing.

They are not expensive, just buy two more. Do a search for the AIR restrictor plate mod.

I am having the same prob. It seems worse on cold start up's.
Once the car has ran for awhile it's fine. Once i kill it & start off again, i get that damn "flutter".........."tick" whatever you call it! Very annoying. I will fix it this weekend.
Any idea of what the "check valves" run?
Excellent post...... as i have been too lazy to track this as well!

BTW, will the "block off" plates eliminate this shutter, flutter, tick, whatever.....?
No check valves, air tubes. No tick!?
Make sense? As i understand it, removing the air system will not throw a code, nor will it effect drivability.
Someone chime in please..............

Doesn't it only throw a code if you remove the pump? I was under the impression that if you kept the pump in the circuit the computer didn't know the difference. (yeah... I know it's loud as hell if it's still there and running)
