Belt Tensioner - Katech or Stock GM?
My belt keeps creeping off towards the front of the car.
The first time this happened, I put it back in place and went to a local speed shop to have the ASP pulley (and new belts) re-installed.
Everything fine for a week.
Today, belt kreeps forward again!
I spoke with Paul at Thunder and he recommends getting a new tensioner.
I think I'll plunk down the $$$ and get the Katech (they claim to have solved a harmonic problem which occurs around 4000rpm).
As for installation, it's just those 2 bolts right? Should be simple?

Yeah, just two bolts. I love mine, I would go ahead and get another tensioner pulley while you are at it. It's about $60 I think. Call Thunder and ask them for an ASP tensioner pulley with the higer edges. I have both and have never had belt problems.

I have the Katech and its rock solid. Remember the reason the belt comes off is because of the tensioner vibrating. So if you still get he tensioner with the higher walls or with a Larry pulley, the belt and tensioner will still vibrate at hard throttle accelerations.
With the Katech NOTHING budges, it's smooth as silk.
Where do you live in South Florida? Just curious.

I went with a new stocker (can't beat an in-stock item around the corner from home). Let's see what happens.
I too did not see the ASP tensioner pulley on the Thunder website, and the Katech's are out of stock.
By the way, to get me out of a bind, I used a 76" [multi-cog] ribbed belt (it's all they had at the shop down the street after pulling over). Does this make any difference over a [continuous] ribbed one?

I was told that the adjustment from one spring load (stock crank pulley and belt) to another (ASP crank pulley and 76" belt) is what killed the original GM belt tensioner. I'm sure the Katech and Larry pulley are much better options. I'll probably upgrade soon. I just needed to get my car streetable again to be able to commute to work.
