Default Who has the un-coated Pacesetters?

Who has the un-coated Pacesetters? How are they holding up? Does the paint burn off on startup, and then does the header start to rust immediately? How long have they been on your car, how do you like them, how do they look, etc?

Thanks, Shawn

A local guy had them and he said the paint came off and started to rust. He told me to at least coat them with something, he painted them with grill paint and had no problem after that.

just spring the the coated, there only 339. unless its sunny all year around then i'd say go with the painted but the coated is still the better choice. or if you still want the painted get some high temp spray on coated, i use that for my Y pipe and its been fine.

I have the coated headers, but the painted Y pipe, I can already see paint chipping off of the Y. So I can see the painted ones not holding up as well. But all in all they are a beautiful set of headers and maybe some of the other header makers ( Hooker ) might start dropping their prices with what Pacesetter is charging.

I have a set of Pace Setters and on a tag it says to paint the headers with a high temperature paint. Do you need to strip off the factory paint before spraying on the high temp?

The Y pipe made by Pace Setter has a horrible collector. Is there another inexpensive Y pipe out there that flows better? Most others cost more than my headers cost.

The Pace Setter is just two pipes welded together. What a disaster!

I think I'm gonna get the uncoated headers and y-pipe, sand and paint them with high temp paint, see how that holds up. These are going on an occasional driver, street car, so they should be fine. We'll see.

dude get the coated headers...i got mine for $303 with shipping included so whats that 60 bucks more than the uncoated and they look great...also it helps keep underhood temps down, keep velocity up, and keep them from rusting nearly as quick. JMO but its not worth getting the uncoated.

The Flowmaster collector Y300350 and some mandrel bent tubing will make for an excellent Y pipe. It a duel 3" x 3 1/2" outlet collector.

If I can find the mandrel bent 3" tubing I just make fabricate my own.

If you mean how do you connect to your stock 3" pipe leading away from the collector you can do it with a 3 1/2" x 3" reducer. Hooker makes one, part number 11136HKR.

Dual 3" cutouts in the Y pipe right off the headers leading into the dual 3" x 3 1/2" Flowmaster collector then reducing back down to 3" to mate your existing exhaust. This would make a super track and street set up.
