Question LS1 intake on a 5.3 truck??????

I have a 2000 regular cab silverado w/5.3
speed pro pistons w/moly rings
comp cam and high lift springs 208/210 .557 in .557 ex.
volant intake sys.
edelbrock headers and edelbrock cat back

so my question is with that cam i have lost alot of low end torque its really noticable when i pull my boat or car, but has anyone put a ls1 intake on a truck, if so what mods do you have to do, i know i will have to modify the air intake sys to the throttle body but anyhting else, will it work with the truck front drive assy.. also i thinking of replacing that cam w/a stock cam from a LS1 Z28..

What should i do???????????????

truck intake performers better than a ls1 intake, from what i rember they are almost as good as an ls6
and btw ls1 or ls6 intake will not work

only good intake option is the edelbrock pro flo but that is not going to help your low end torque

also a stock cam in 01-02 ls1 were the same ones they used in the 6.0 truck motors

im trying to learn.

I have a 98 camaro ss, has the 5.7 ls1 . The engine needs to be replaced, and i have a 5.3 chevy truck motor. Are you saying the LS1 intake wont fit the truck heads / truck 5.3 long block?

This 5.3 is a option for me, versus buying a 3000.00 LS6

If you're trying to replace your LS1 on the cheap, why not look into a 6.0 instead of a 5.3? They're nearly as cheap, and won't turn your car into a boat anchor.

If you're putting the engine into your Camaro, as long as you use all the camaro accessories, the LS1 intake will work fine and attach to the heads fine, the compatibility issue is with the truck accessory drive being in the way of the car intakes throttle body. Newer engines have different port shapes, but any catherdral port truck engine will accept your cars intake just fine.

I agree though...even though you have a 5.3...you can probably find a 6.0 for $400-$500 if you look around, and make the car a bit faster.

I think he is referring to the LS1 intake causes some interference issues with the Throttle body and belt routing also some interference on the Alt bracket.

Nothing that can not be overcome

I have an ls1 intake on my 5.3. I think the water pump was changed to clear the throttle body. I bought it with the ls1 inatke on it. It came with the original alternator bracket on it but it wouldn't clear the hood.

Thanks for the reply, Let me know where these 4-500.00 6.0 motors are, cheapest ive seen on ebay, craigslist, and searchtemepst has been 900.00 - 1500.00

Local yard wants 1100.00 for a LQ4 with over 100K on it.

Thanks for you response
