Default my ls6 intake has egr????????

i just bought a ls6 intake from a member on here, and when i got it, it has a huge hole in the top near where the throttle body hooks up, with a huge hollow screw-on type thingy. i have no idea what to do. i know you can block the other end off on cars that came with egr, but what the hell can i do to get rid of this thing on the intake? or should i just ask the guy if he'll let me return it?

Not to rain on your parade, but that's not a real ls6 intake. That hole is for the EGR. It's possible you got an slp modded ls6 intake that lets you keep the egr, but it's more than likely an ls1. Does it have the flat bottom to it, or does it have more of a curved look?

As far as plugging it, there's an egr blockoff plate you can buy at ws6 store, or you can get an expandable freeze plug. Either will do fine.

Kind of contradicted yourself..

I have one of the early SLP model ls6 intakes and it has EGR.. Get an expandable plug and put it in there.. Then make a cover to go over it..

look at the bottom of the intake, if it has waves in it then you got f'd, if its flat then your cool, you just got a egr ls6 intake. post the part number or members name you bought it from.

If it has the fitting (hollow screw-on thingy), its an SLP LS6. It IS an ls6 intake. The neck design on an ls1 intake is different than an ls6. SLP literally took the intakes and put the fitting on them to add EGR. Don't worry about it. You can use a freezer plug or get fancy and fill it in with something like JB weld, and sand it smooth.

Here's a link check this out... Theres part numbers for brass fittings as well.

as soon as i got it and saw the egr fitting i looked up the part number, 12573572, and it says its a ls6 intake. so i guess im just gonna put it for sale. i talked to the member i bought it from and he just says i should have asked more questions, ehh i don't care it will sell and i will make sure i ask next time to make sure i get the right intake. it sux though because it was between this and a typhoon intake and i chose this because it was a little cheaper, so that's what i get for cheaping out.

so instead of just plugging it and having an LS6 you are going to sell it?

So, you've been advised to look at the bottom. Have you? What's it look like? If you post a question and others ask for more information to better help you and you don't respond with more info, how can they help you?

It is a LS6 intake (12573572 is the original LS6 part number, now superseded several times over) so why would you want to get rid of it?

I think you should've asked the seller for a picture. Buyer beware if the item was bought with little information.

Your sig says you have a 2002 SS. It shoulda came with an LS6 intake.

sorry everyone transsam pmed me about a trade so i neglected this thread, it does have the flat bottom, it is a ls6, just the one that slp added egr to. i want to sell or trade it because i dont want to try to plug it myself, i looked all over for a place to get that plug some people are talking about but cant find anything. and yeah like lemon said, i did have a non egr ls6 intake but sold it when i started my 408 build, but the engine has been at the builders for over 2 months now and im missing my car so i decided to drop my ls1 back in, i have a built trans and 12 now so i can beat the hell out of it with no worries, also have c-clip eliminated, with huge axles.

Don't plug it, trade with the other guy so he can pass his visual inspection and you can both have your cars back...

That would be the best thing IMO

However if the trade doesn't work out the fitting that SLP uses to mod their intakes for EGR is 3/4", just go to Home Depot and get a cap and screw it on.

If you cant find one here's one on ebay for $2.75

http://cgi.ebay.com/3-4-Pipe-Brass-C...item19b8b2a8ed

I bought my SLP LS6 intake used and it came with a screw cap on it since the prior owner removed his EGR system. Here's how it was when I got it
