tr55 are now tr5?
i bought tr5ix at o'reilly auto parts...i looked on ngk's website and there is no such thing as tr55ix apparently. did i get the right plug? gapped at .040, although i checked and they seem to be more like .038, which i think might be the fault of my gauge...

right. but they used to have tr55ix, and tr55. now the "new" model is tr5ix and/or tr5, no tr55. the reason, i found out, is that in 2005 GM starting gapping all plugs on LSx models to .040 instead of the .060 previously used (smoother idle), so the tr5 and tr5ix took the place of the old models to comply with the new gap.

shouldn't be any different.
"Prior to 2005 GM used .055 GAP spark plugs on all LSx motors. Starting in 2005, they switched to .040 GAP plugs to provide a better idle when things like cheap gas are encountered. Either a .060, or .040 GAP plug will work in any LSx motor with the smaller GAP being best for daily driven, mildly modded cars.
Best replacement plug for stock/midly modified LSx motors."
