Default Anyone tried one of these?

http://www.jegs.com/i/Car+Chemistry/176/3FI03L/10002/-1

supposedly it quiets down your exhaust a little bit without killing any HP.

I've always wanted to try these:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTC-72-32520/

or these:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTC-M80-00100/

Seems like a cool idea, and it looks like it would flow better than the collector insert.

I've always wondered if they would affect HP. I would imagine they do.

Looks to me like all you are doing is restricting exhaust flow. You are putting something in the way of ther exhaust's path to freedom. If you care about the volume, then why bother with a V8 and a performance exhaust system? Just saying.

First off, I love the way my car sounds at WOT. I also like how it sounds at idle. BUT i hate the way it drones on the highway. Can't hardly carry on a conversation, especially on the phone. Only reason i would try something like this would be if it would get rid of the drone.

Exhaust sound isn't the only reason to bother with a v8. i really hope thats not the only reason you bought your car.

I bought my car with the loudmouth on it. i swapped out the slp bullet for a magnaflow one and it made a noticeable reduction in the drone, but it still bothers me. And im not gonna buy a whole new system.

Sorry if my comment came off as unpleasant...

And I am not implying that exhaust sound is "the only reason to bother with a V8". I am simply saying that a loud exhaust goes along with a performance engine. What I am saying is that if you want a nice V8 and a quiet exhaust, then you have to choose which one of those criteria is more important to you.

That being said, I understand now that you don't want to muffle your volume but rather eliminate the highway drone, which is understandable. Once again, sorry if my previous comment read the wrong way. I mean no disrespect to anyone...

Also, I can't imagine buying an LS1 F-body based on its sound only, when there are so many other reasons to love it.

itsturbotime, what exactly did you have to do to put that magnaflow bullet in place of the slp one? i have the magnaflow bullet already and will be doing it in a few days. simple take off two clamps and clamp the new one in? thanks.

i had to have my slp resonator cut out and the magnaflow bullet welded in at an exhaust shop.

it was pretty cheap if i remember, like twenty bucks or so

If you think putting that ginormous hunk of **** in your exhaust won't reduce power, you are on crack.
