Default oil pressure switch on 2001 corvette need some info and help

I just bought this 2001 corvette and the oil pressure guage pegs 80 as soon as you turn the key on. The digital read out shows like 130lbs. So I changed the oil pressure switch and it work right until the next time I turned the car on and now its does the smae thing again. The car also has a p1336 code for cranks position sensor needs to be relearned so I swapped the crank pos sensor also but I still have to do the case relearn. Would this have any thing to do with the oil pressure pegging out before the car is even running? I also noticed every time you turn the key on the guages all go to max and then back is this normal on a vette?

It stays pegged all the way the whole time while its running or just when you put the key in the run position

Oil sending unit are famous for going out, and yes the gauges peg out and go back every time you start. Go over to corvetteforum.com and to a search and you'll get all the reading you want on the oil sending unit.

Why do the oil sending units go bad on these cars so much? When I bought mine I looked at several and like a third of them had the same problem. I have had several fbody ls1 cars and never had a bad oil sending unit.
