Default Dont know how to re-set throttle cable tension- HELP!

Hope this is the right section.. And dont crack jokes if some of this sounds newB! Ok, took off my TB today to install a plate so due to that new space, I was told id need to adjust the throttle cable. While pulling the clip off the section midway down the throttle cable, where you make the adjustments, the clip/cover on there flew off as I was trying to get it off and is now lost. I was told I could temporarily use the other identical one off the cruise control line directly to the left of it. So i did. Got everything put back together, and when i turn the TB by hand, it opens and closes normally, but when you push the pedal to the floor, and let go of it, it comes short of closing, about 1/4". As long as I just crank the car and let it idle, I think its idling ok, somewhere around 800-1000 rpms. But as soon as u touch the throttle, it wants to stay at about 3k rpms, while im driving it is accelerating on its own so i have to ride the brakes.. And when I push clutch, 3k rpms here I come! The TB just has a little catch in it or something, thats keeping it from closing all the way, like, I can get out and by hand turn it back to closed, but depressing the throttle does not bring it to a close. Is this problem in the little fat section where u adjust throttle linkage??? And if so, how do I set it? When I took the clip off, the cord was pressed alll the way into that section I believe. But I know now, I have to compensate for having the plate in between the TB and the intake.

HELP ME!!

I guess none of u have a clue???

This just in, we're drilling new slots for the bolts farther back, on the throttle cable holder, which will give me just enough slack for the tb to close.

follow the cable back around the passenger side towards the traction control module...

about half way on the cable is an adjustment point...

Btw, problem solved. Took the bracket off the inlet of the intake that holds the throttle cable up, redrilled the two holes farther back, which pushed that bracket farther toward the front of the car about 1/4 inch and was JUST the right amount to make everything work perfectly.

I did do that. Tried to get it right that way but there was no more cable to work with. The adjustment point was pushed all the way in.
