Default what water pump replacement

ok my water pump just took a crap. there is water coming out the weep hole, coolant level is down, and the bearing squeels. time for a new one... what are you guys using for replacements? the car is soon to be getting a cam so that is when it will be replaced( not my dd so it will just sit til then). electric seems a little overkill and way overpriced. what are my options

I replaced my leaking pump with the new Edelbrock pump, and so far so good. Looks much nicer and coolant temps are down. Its a bit pricey though.

Then the other option would be an electric pump like you said, and thatll actually gain you around 8-10rwhp, but thats a couple hundred more still. I went with the Edelbrock because I just feel more comfortable running a mechanical pump and didnt want to just go with a stock pump, but its up to you and really depends on what youre looking to spend...

^ Yeah. I REALLY wish there was a lower priced elect water pump that comes with the dummy bell. Not a race/dyno pump with no dummy bell. I found a couple pumps through summit for around $350, but they didn't have a bell for the belt, so you'd have to completely revamp your serp system.

I just had to replace mine also. I used a new bosh from Pep Boys. Price was fair, and it's keeping the car perfectly cool. Straight forward replacement, but those clamps on the hoses are a PITA.

Default wp replacement

at what mileage or amount of age are you folks replaceing water pumps?

I heard the stock is a well made piece and lasts for a longer time compared to other cars.

thanks

****, my 95 truck is still pumping at 157k. But it prolly won't go seeing that I have a replacement sitting in the basement. I bought it before I drove it across the country. Just in case parts.

70K. My car is a restoration project though. It was driven very rarely. I don;t think my pump was the issue as much as the gasket let go. Better safe than sorry. I replaced the entire cooling system.
