Default LT's and motor mounts

Just about to install the long tubes on my ls1. My question is do the motor mounts need to be replaced. I have heard stories about the headers hitting the car if they are not changed. :/

dude....save yourself the headache and do them now at once....the banging on the floorboards will **** you off. its not like you would think, its a loud thump. but the motormounts are way harder then the headers to install. also will take you 10x longer to install, BUT DO THEM WHILE YOUR UNDER THERE

I agree. Do the motor mounts while you are in there. I did my LT headers and then had to do the motor mounts later, and it was a huge pain in the ***. I ended up pulling the headers back off to get to them.

I went with poly mounts from Energy Suspension, they really stiffen up the entire powertrain. The downside is you get some more resonance, noise, and vibations in the cabin, but nothing too bad. I could easily live with mine as a DD.

You barely notice them at speed and idle, the car shakes and vibrates a bit more, but its barely noticeable. The only time you really notice them is if you let the rpm go below 800 or so(such at taking off in 1st with an M6 and don't give it enough gas). I actually like the vibrations and shaking the car does now. It's a muscle/pony car, we're not driving smooth luxury sedans.

I'm running solids on the motor and poly on the tranny. I love them, wouldn't go back to stock.

What solid mounts do you all recommend. Spohn? Im gonna be getting headers soon and would like to do mounts. Was gonna do poly but solids sound easier.

Solids don't have the annoying top pedestal piece to play with, and I think its a cleaner look in the end being just one metal piece. I got the Spohn mounts myself... they're also about a 10lb weight saving off using the stock/poly mounts.

Spohn solids here, no regrets, makes it feel more like a hot rod should.

I don't know how good you are with this stuff, but I put the "OMGStupidDumbAss" in "Noob". I'm taking a ton of pics of my MM/headers install and I'm hoping to supplement the https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...r-written.html with pics.

But until then, you can see how noobish I am with the obstacles I'm running through, but, if anything, pics of where I'm at here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...-bad-help.html

This is what I ordered:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PTP-7-512BL/

Although I got the red ones which were $11 more expensive.

how difficult are the solid mounts to install? Is it just unbolt old ones and bolt these in or what.
